BORN ON THE BAYOU I wasn't "born on the bayou" like the Credence Clearwater Revival song says, but I am in love with it just the same. This city boy has got some country roots and it's never so evident as when I am spending a long weekend on Caddo Lake.
I never thought I would find a place that could rival my beloved Dryberry Lake way up in Northwestern Ontario's beautiful Sunset Country, but when you can only spend a week or two up north every year (if you're lucky), you start searching for "the next best thing" in your own backyard.
I discovered Caddo Lake nearly in my own backyard (East Texas) in 2001 and I tell you what... I threw that in cuz Texans like to say it and we northerners don't get it right away - I know all my Yankee friends just read that and said, "What?" Ha! Just funnin' ya. They got me with it once too. I tell you what... What? (insert laughter) Duh!
Anyway, Caddo Lake is an amazing place. Pictures can't do it justice and like my favorite place in the world north of the Texas-Oklahoma border, Dryberry Lake, you really have to visit in order to understand fully what I am talking about.
I will go as often as I can to fish and take pictures, so that you too can at get a glimpse of what I mean when I say, I tell you what... Zilla
