SEVEN BEFORE BREAKFAST There's a little game I like to play on Caddo Lake called "Seven Before Breakfast" that isn't even possible on many other lakes. In fact, few lakes give up enough different species (let alone the "before breakfast" part) to allow an angler to have a chance at that wide of a variety of fish in such a short period of time.
Although I didn't photograph all the fish we caught, below you will see three of the seven species we bagged one Sunday morning - before breakfast. Count 'em: largemouth bass, crappie, catfish, rock bass, bluegill, red ear, and punkin' seed. I also got bit-off twice by a toothy critter and there are but four of those that I know of living in Caddo Lake - gators, gar, pickerel, and snapping turtles (I don't think they have teeth, but they bite like they do). Being that I rarely catch pickerel in August and we had not seen a gar that morning, my guess is that I was being annoyed by a toothy beast of a non-fish variety.
We had a blast though. And be sure, there will be many more great fishing photos posted here in the future, so keep coming back...
