Fish of the Week: Icy Webster Muskie
By Dale Bowman - December 15, 2009
Some fish, [for example this one,] worthy of [CST's] Fish of the Week [honors], are worth busting [through] a mile of [surface] ice to reach. Mike Davis did that.
Here's Mike's take on his 47-inch muskie:
"...here's a picture of [the] 47-inch musky I caught on December 6th at 3pm on a sucker. I was fishing [over] 42-feet of water [on] Webster Lake, Indiana. We had to break through 1-inch of ice for a mile to get to the [main] lake. Water temperature was 37.4F. We've [boated] 15 muskies in the last 3 weekends."
That's some fishing. And this is some fish.
*******
(Editor's Note: Mike's fishing guide, Pat Elza, personally boated 62 muskies in 2009, bringing Pat's one-man-band lifetime running total to just over 350 legal fish. Add to that all the rest of Team Zilla's legal muskies and you will come close to double that number. "That's some pretty good shootin' if you ask me!" It's how we'd say it down here in Texas. Good Job Patrick & Team Zilla!)
